We open our doors to the education of the world: delegation of MITIT made an official visit to the Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte

The delegation of the Kruty Heroes Military Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology made an official visit to the Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte (Gdynia, Poland). The delegation was led by the Head of the Military Institute, Major General Viktor Ostapchuk.

The visit took place within the framework of the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme (NATO DEEP). NATO DEEP is a reform tool that provides support to individual NATO Partner Countries in developing and reforming their military and defence education institutions and systems.

The purpose of the visit was to sign the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Cybersecurity, Information Technology as well as Automation and Robotics. During the visit, information on both institutions was exchanged. Moreover, the delegation of the MITIT got acquainted with selected elements of the material and technical base of the Academy, including the Academic Training Centre in Czernica.

In addition, during the visit of the delegation, the Head of MITIT personally thanked the Rector of the Naval Academy for the opportunity to complete the training cycle of a group of cadets of the Military Institute specializing in cybersecurity. This event took place in May and June 2022.

Reference: Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte (in Polish: Akademia Marynarki Wojennej im. Bohaterów Westerplatte) is one of the five institutions of higher military education in the Republic of Poland, founded in 1922. It is directly subordinate to the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Poland.

The main activities of the Academy are: training of officers, career development training of Naval officers, training of civilian students, conducting scientific research, implementing scientific projects and developments, and other tasks of the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Poland.

The Naval Academy of the Heroes of Westerplatte provides training in eleven specialties ("Navigation", "Ship Deck System Operators", "Coast Guard Functions", "Hydrography", "Automation and Robotics", "Computer Science", "Mechatronics", "Mechanical Engineering", "Pedagogy", "International Relations", "Human Resource Management").

The Polish Naval Academy joined the NATO DEEP Ukraine in 2013, currently focusing its activities on supporting several educational institutions. After the annexation of Crimea by rf in 2014 and the start of a full-scale invasion in 2022, the cooperation with the Ukrainian side under the program gained an additional dimension and importance.
